Little Venice is one of the most beautiful sections of the Seaside National Park in Baku.

This small town within the city, reminiscent of Italy’s Venice, adds a special beauty to the capital of Azerbaijan with its stunning canals and architecture. Little Venice was constructed as part of the Baku Boulevard in the 1960s and has become a favorite holiday destination for Baku citizens and guests of the city.

Old Town

The walled City of Shirvanshahs dates back to 12th century Baku and since the 15th century was the capital of the country. You will have a walking tour inside the Old City and will get a deep understanding of the history of Baku which was located in the center of the Silk Road and was one of the richest cities in the East.

The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is a 15th-century palace built by the Shirvanshahs and described by UNESCO as “one of the pearls of Azerbaijan’s architecture”. It is located in the Inner City of Baku, Azerbaijan, and, together with the Maiden Tower, forms an ensemble of historic monuments inscribed under the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical Monuments. The complex contains the main building of the palace, Divanhane, the burial vaults, the shah’s mosque with a minaret, Seyid Yahya Bakuvi’s mausoleum (the so-called “mausoleum of the dervish”), south of the palace, a portal in the east, Murad’s gate, a reservoir and the remnants of a bathhouse.

After, you will discover the Multani Caravanserai and Bukhara Caravanserai built in the 14th and 15th centuries.

The maiden tower located in the old city and which was built in the 12th century for defense purposes is considered a symbol of Baku.

Miniature Books Museum is also the biggest miniature book museum in the world. You will be fascinated by 3750 mini books that were published in 73 different countries as well as the book that is 0.75 mm and only can be read by a microscope.

Upland Park (Highland Park) and Flame Towers

Baku’s Upland Park is the highest point in the Azerbaijani capital, opening a panoramic view of the city and its bay. The city’s residents and visitors often come here to see a bird’s eye view of Baku and just have a walk. The Upland Park can be reached by cable railway (funicular) in 7-8 minutes from the boulevard, by climbing up the endless stone stairs, or just by car.

At the top of the park, there are located the country’s parliament building, the alley of martyrs, and the world-famous symbol of modern Baku, the Flame Towers. This park is a beautiful corner of Baku and is considered one of the most interesting places for our city’s guests.

Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center

The last destination of the tour will be the spectacular work of Zaha Hadid which is built in 2012 and covers a 57,500 marea. Some facts about the building:

  • The recorded cost of the center is 250 mln $.
  • Architects did 2.5 years of research in order to just find out how to build this amazing building.
  • The material that was used to make it outside of the center was invented by the architects because there was no known material in order to make such a curved building.

Fire Temple (Ateshgah)

The Baku Ateshgah (from Persian: آتشگاه‎, Atashgāh, Azerbaijani: Atəşgah), often called the “Fire Temple of Baku” is a castle-like religious temple in Surakhani town, a suburb in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Burning Mountain (Yanardagh)

Yanar Dag (Azerbaijani: Yanar Dağ, meaning “burning mountain”) is a natural gas fire that blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula on the Caspian Sea near Baku. Unlike mud volcanoes, the Yanar Dag flame burns fairly steadily, as it involves a steady seep of gas from the subsurface
