Lahij Tour

Mainly covers the Lahij village which is located in Ismayilli, on the northwest side of Azerbaijan. Lahij tour starts after picking up the guests from the hotel. When we go to Lahij, we will also pass through Shamakhi City and stop there for a while to visit some sightseeing places there.

Lahij Village, Ismayilli city

Lahij village is one of the most ancient inhabited cities in Azerbaijan which is located in Ismayilli city. Lahij is the best example of original architecture preserved by villagers for more than centuries. This village entered the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO because the village was one of the best handcrafting and trading centers in the Caucasus. The main fame of the village comes from handmade copper products with magnificent designs that are all made in the village in a traditional way. Now the village is one of the most famous touristic destinations in Azerbaijan because even today the village has dozens of workshops that are making very beautiful handmade copper products. The majority of the population of Lahij speaks the Tati language. The residents of the region are usually bilingual: as well as the Tati language, an Iranian language, the Azerbaijani language is also widely spoken.

Diri Baba Mausoleum, Maraza Village

During the Lahij tour as we pass through Shamaxi city, our first stop will be in Maraza village. You will visit the Diri Baba mausoleum (mausoleum-mosque of the 15th century called Diri-Baba, located across from the old cemetery). The architecture of the Diri Baba mausoleum harmonically fits into the picturesque surroundings of the building – view against the background of rocks and greenery of trees. The building of the mausoleum is a masterpiece of the architectural school of Shirvan and a beautiful creation of the arts of ancient masters. The monument is protected by the government.

Juma Mosque, Shamakhi City

Juma Mosque of Shamakhi or Friday Mosque of Shamakhi (Azerbaijani: Şamaxı Cümə Məscidi) is a mosque in the city of Shamakhi, Azerbaijan. The construction date of the mosque is dated from the governance period of the Caliphate’s vicar in the Caucasus and Dagestan, Arabic commander Maslam ibn Abd-al Melik, brother of Umayyad caliph Valil I (705-715), by whom Shamakhi was chosen as the residence. In these years Arab governors, strengthening towers of this ancient city with its rich cultural heritage, began the construction of new structures in its territory. Arabs attached great importance to Shamakhi, which is visible from the great architectural appearance of the Friday Mosque.

At the end of the Lahij tour, the guests will be transferred to Baku and dropped off at their hotel.
